The database of Villa San Michele contains 100% of the museum’s total collection, 1647 objects consisting partly of items on exhibit, partly of items in other environments within the grounds of the San Michele Foundation.

The Search function presents different categories of information such as the object’s VSMnr (Villa San Michele number), Location, Material, Colour, Form/type/ornament, Dating and Source information. The category Remarks contains information, including curiosities, of varying kind about the object. The category Search is used for free text searches, for example for the word “mosaic”.

The Museum San Michele’s collection includes articles from a variety of cultures and periods. The collection consists of antiquities; furniture; household utensils; building, garden and furnishing items; documents and Axel Munthe’s personal possessions. The articles are also presented with photographs.
