On the tenth anniversary of its activities, the competition The Most Beautiful Park of Italy, also in 2012 has entered Villa San Michele in the prestigious top ten best-loved gardens of the peninsula, among the over 550 that are now part of the network  The Most Beautiful Park. The winner will be decided before the end of summer.
Appreciated by thousands of visitors, but especially by a competent jury of experts, the residence of the Swedish doctor and writer Axel Munthe, now the permanent seat of Swedish institutions in Capri, once again, has been confirmed as an architectural and natural jewel, the flagship of the symbols of tourism not only in Campania. In fact the prestigious award was bestowed in 2009 and 2011.
The idea of the organizers of the contest is to promote alternative travels to discover the treasures of Italy. A "green" tourism that can be put into practice by visiting one of the ten finalists of the competition 2012, elected by the Scientific Committee of the prize.
And the residence of Anacapri, is undoubtedly a place of excellence for those who love
flowers and plants. Along the route there are borders of urns, violas and petunias and azaleas, hydrangeas and magnolias. Among the woody plants are various species of palms and pines, cedars and an ancient type of Melaleuca armillaris. There is also a specimen of garnet rupicola Kochia saxicola that grows wild on the island and, except for some rare cases, it is extinct in the rest of the world. Thanks to its location and its typicality, the garden is kept fresh and green throughout the year. Vincenzo Cazzato, Alberta Campitelli, Marcello Bean, Ines Romitti, Scarlett Sleiter, Luigi Zangheri, Margherita Azzi Visentini.
