TOSCA - A Traveling Thriller

The Filrō Association returns to Villa San Michele for the second year in a row with a unique, immersive version of Giacomo Puccini's masterpiece, Tosca. This extraordinary event invites the audience to actively participate and experience the emotions and dramas of the characters up close in a timeless setting.

This year's opera choice is particularly special as it marks the centenary of the great Tuscan composer, Giacomo Puccini. To honor this anniversary, Tosca will be presented in a shortened form, lasting an hour and a half, but still featuring all the elements that make the opera iconic: sumptuous costumes, striking lighting, evocative sets, and passionate performances.

Directed by Filippo Rotondo, this production offers a fresh take on the classic opera, focusing on the personal stories of the protagonists. The realism that Puccini intended is heightened in this staging, transforming Tosca into a gripping thriller filled with suspense and a powerful portrayal of human emotions.

Villa San Michele becomes a dynamic stage for the occasion, with each scene unfolding in a different part of the villa, allowing the audience to fully immerse themselves in both the action and the villa's stunning surroundings. Viewers will embark on an emotional journey, experiencing love, betrayal, and passion as though they are part of the story.

Adding to this immersive experience are the magnificent historical costumes by Vincenzo Canzanella, meticulously crafted to reflect the era of the story. These traditional costumes are beautifully contrasted with the modern, cinematic approach of the staging, creating a perfect blend of tradition and innovation.

The cast for this production includes Giuseppe Famularo as music director and pianist, Filippo Rotondo, who also plays the role of Scarpia, Ginevra Martalò as Tosca, and Hayk Vardanyan as Cavaradossi.
