Munthe’s BBC Program

In the 1930’s, Axel Munthe recorded a radio programme with the BBC. The narration of how The Story of San Michele came about, the plans to turn it into a film and Munthe’s decision not to go to Hollywood, is at the same time humorous and vain.
Towards the end, Munthe speaks about his love for animals and especially for the birds. The programme which is available here, helps shedding light on the complex personality of Axel Munthe.
