Jazz Under the Stars: Lina Nyberg and Daniel Karlsson friday, july 4 at 8:00 p.m at Villa San Michele

Following the intimate atmosphere of the chapel and the rich sounds of Baroque music, A Summer Dream continues with a refreshing change of pace. On Friday, July 4 at 8:00 p.m., Villa San Michele’s panoramic terrace will host an extraordinary evening of jazz featuring two of Sweden’s most acclaimed artists: vocalist Lina Nyberg and pianist Daniel Karlsson.

Performing together at Villa San Michele for the first time, Nyberg and Karlsson will present music from their duo album The Night and the Music (Prophone/Naxos), along with a heartfelt tribute to the great German composer Kurt Weill. The program will include jazz standards, original compositions by Nyberg, and beloved Weill pieces such as “Lonely House” and “Surabaya Johnny”—reimagined in new arrangements.

Lina Nyberg, a Grammy-winning artist, is renowned as one of Scandinavia’s most innovative and expressive jazz singers. Her career, rich with acclaimed collaborations, has earned her praise for her originality and sensitivity. As Dan Backman of SvD Svenska Dagbladet noted: “There are many subtle gems to be discovered both in Nyberg’s personal phrasing and in the delicate ensemble playing and solos of the participating musicians.”
Daniel Karlsson is one of Europe’s most versatile contemporary pianists, recognized for his dynamic style and compositional flair. As Ian Patterson of All About Jazz writes: “His compelling playing and compositional talent mark him out as one of the most exciting contemporary pianists.”

The concert series continues every Friday until August 8, under the musical direction of Bo Löfvendahl, with the support of Progetto Piano and under the patronage of the Swedish Embassy.

Tickets (€20; reduced rate for youth and students: €10) are available at the ticket office 30 minutes before the concert, or in advance daily from 9 AM to 6 PM.

It is possible to return to Naples on the last ferry after the concerts have finished.
