June 5, 8.00pm Swedish Film Goes Capri - Becoming Astrid
Becoming Astrid tells the story of the early years of celebrated Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren, author of Pippi Longstocking, before she became an icon of children’s literature. In an era defined by rigid social norms, young Astrid faces an out-of-wedlock pregnancy—an experience that profoundly shapes both her life and her writing. The film offers an intimate look at how a free and courageous female voice took shape. In tribute to Pippi, who turns 80 this year and remains a timeless symbol of freedom and independence, special guest Inger Nilsson—who portrayed the character in the globally acclaimed TV series—will attend, along with Sweden’s Ambassador to Italy, Jan Björklund.
