Villa San Michele is pleased to host the presentation of Mirella Armiero’s latest book, “Un pensiero ribelle. Maria Bakunin, la Signora di Napoli” (Solferino). Joining the author in conversation are historian Vittoria Fiorelli (Suor Orsola Benincasa University) and Kristina Kappelin, Director of Villa San Michele.The book explores the remarkable life of Maria Bakunin, the first woman in Italy to graduate in chemistry (1895). Through passion and determination, she made lasting contributions to science and society in Southern Italy during a vibrant era of cultural and intellectual growth.
Mirella Armiero is the cultural editor of Il Corriere del Mezzogiorno and a member of the Premio Napoli jury. She also writes a weekly literary column and has edited several anthologies.
This event is part of the summer program A Summer Dream, curated by Villa San Michele under the direction of Kristina Kappelin, with the support of Progetto Piano and under the patronage of the Embassy of Sweden.
