Pergolesi’s Livietta e Tracollo Capridrama Opera Festival

Thursday 10 and Friday 11 September at 8 p.m. at Villa San Michele
The second Capridrama Opera Festival concludes on 10 and 11 September with Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Livietta e Tracollo. The gardens and chapel of Villa San Michele become the stage for an itinerant eighteenth-century musical comedy filled with disguises, deception and unexpected twists.

Composed in 1734, the opera follows Livietta, a determined young woman intent on exposing the impostor Tracollo. As he continually changes identity to escape her revenge, the story develops into a fast-paced game in which no one is quite what they seem.
The production unfolds across different parts of the museum created by Swedish doctor and writer Axel Munthe, drawing the audience into a dialogue between music, performance, architecture and landscape.

Filippo Rotondo directs and performs the role of Tracollo. Rotondo recently won First Prize at the Nano-Opera International Opera Stage Directors Competition. Soprano Ginevra Martalò, who recently debuted as Turandot at the Teatro Comunale di Modena, performs Livietta. Musical direction and piano are by Capri-born Federico Cappa, with sets and costumes by Matilde Folli.

The production is presented by FILRŌ Opera Production, which specialises in immersive and itinerant opera in historic settings.
