Swedish Film Goes Capri. Film Festival at Villa San Michele, June 6 to 8, 8:00 pm
June 6 to 8, Villa San Michele organizes a Swedish film festival. The dramas of youth, romance late in life and "Il dolce far niente" are the themes in the three films in the third edition of Swedish Film Goes Capri.
Come and listen to the young Swedish Netflix stars Felicia Maxime and Edvin Ryding, who will join digitally, and the internationally acclaimed documentary film maker Erik Gandini. From Italy, the successful actress and TV host Chiara Francini, actor Massimo Cagnina (When In Rome) and Noemi Brando, last seen in the Netflix film about Gianna Nannini, will add luster to the evenings.
June 21, 8 pm The Girl From Tomorrow, Premio Visionarie Swedish Film Goes Capri (Italy 2023)
Primadonna, the film directed by Marta Savina, is set in Sicily during the 1960s and tells the story of Lia (Claudia Gusmano), a 21-year-old girl. Lia is a very beautiful woman, determined, and reserved. Lorenzo Musicò (Dairo Aita), the son of the town's boss, is immediately captivated by the girl's proud and elusive gaze. However, Lia rejects his advances, provoking the young man's anger, and he decides to forcefully take what has been denied to him. When a reparatory marriage is proposed to Lia, she refuses the wedding and decides to take both Lorenzo and his accomplices to court.
Primadonna was awarded the Premio Visionaire 2023, a price established in 2018 in collaboration with Villa San Michele for a young Italian female film maker.
June 23, 8 pm Swedish Film Goes Capri THE CAIRO CONSPIRACY (Boy From Heaven, Sweden 2022)
The Cairo Conspiracy is a political thriller with a vertiginous, unexpected sequence of events. Adam, the son of a fisherman, is granted a scholarship at the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Cairo. When Sheikh Al-Azhar, the highest authority in sunni Islam suddenly dies, a power struggle starts; who will become the next Grand Imam? At the Secret Police, investigator Ibrahim has been ordered to make sure it will be the one the president wants. When his informant inside Al-Azhar gets brutally murdered, Ibrahim needs a replacement, someone without connections or contacts. Adam fits the part perfectly. Featuring Tawfeek Barom and Fares Fares. Director and scriptwriter Tarik Saleh. The film was awarded the Palme d'Or at the Cannes festival 2022 for Best Script.
